Many times people get confused between renovation and fit-out. Even though both terms are closely related, but they are not the same.
Fit-out involves converting a space ready for occupation or inhibition, while the renovation is the process of renewing an old lived-in space. It is required when an old lived-in place becomes outdated or lacking in usability.
Fit-out is often used to space developments where the base construction is completed by the developer or landlord, which is referred to as shell or white box, and the occupant of the space needed to complete the internal layout & servicing of the building to meet their specific requirements.
The internal layout includes a customized design, furniture, light-fixtures, custom plumbing & fixtures, customized flooring, windows, doors, shelving, ceiling, walls, wardrobes, kitchen, and so on. The owner or the occupant of the space can hire a design consultant & contractor for these works depending upon the requirements.
Renovation is to re-store a space to good condition and bringing it back to life!
Word “Renovation” is mostly used in the home interior while “Fit-out” we often use in a commercial interior.
Generally, the cost of fit-out is higher than renovation.
Type of Works that are involved in fit-out takes more time than renovation. Though it also depends on one’s taste and choice of design.
